Shaw-3-2015“So pleased to learn that my work will be part of a national juried exhibit, Earth Elements, opening at the Providence Art Club on March 8th, 2-4 PM.  Providence Art Club and many other galleries statewide are featuring exhibits with a theme of earth /ceramics as part of the NCECA (National Council on Education in Ceramic Arts) conference being held at the convention center March 24-28th. Shown here is my piece in porcelain, Red and Black Platter“.

LEAH GREAR

Leah-Grear-DrawingWheeler School Art Department teacher, Leah Grear, took a 3rd place award at this year’s RI Art Educator’s exhibition. This year’s show is on display through March 8 at the Moses Brown Krause Gallery.

Larzelere in Quilting Magazine

QA1502Fiber artist Jude Larzelere, is featured in a profile article in the February/March, 2015 issue of Quilting Arts Magazine. The author is Martha Sielman,  Executive Director of SAQA (Studio Art Quilt Associates). “See how Judith Larzelere uses the strip-piecing technique to explore color from vibrant brights to a variety of whites.”

Techniques: (secondary top layer traditional machine piecing); (primary top layer machine strip pieced) and all layers machine strip quilted.

Showing in January & February

JAN DOYLE

Double Weave pickup with hand dyed threads in the warp and weft.Fiber artist Jan Doyle will have a retrospective of her work, “Fabric and Fashion Forward,” at the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly this February. An opening reception will be held on Friday, February 6, from 5-8 p.m.

Jan will have a weaving demonstration at the gallery on Sunday, February 22.

Wood-turner Richard Heines, and painter Susan Shaw have work in Mystic Art Center’s annual open juried show featuring the theme, “Home.”

Richard has two pieces in the show: “Untitled”, 500 yr old southern yellow pine; and ” Not for Soup”, walnut and old growth yellow pine. (below)

Beaudry in Westerly

Madeline News-1Fiber artist Madeline Beaudry was recently juried in as an artist member of the The Artists Cooperative of Westerly.  Artist members have work on display all year round, along with  special exhibits occurring each month, with openings on the first Friday of the month. Madeline joins painter Diana Sartor who is also an artist member.Madeline News-3
