Jillian Barber

Clay sculptor, Jillian Barber, is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design. She is well known for mythical masks and animals and creatures of the sea. Her work, inspired by nature and imagination, includes dragons, mermaids, birds, jardinieres, platters and plates. Each hand built piece is highly detailed, colorfully glazed, and richly textured with lace.

Jillian was awarded an Artisan-in-Residency at Ocean House, Watch Hill in January, 2019 and 2020. Recent awards include the Ceramics Award at the 2019 Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts Exhibit, Best in Show at the Conanicut Island Art Association 2019 Summer Show, and 3rd prize in Earthwork at South County Art Association. She is a past recipient of a Fellowship in Design from the RI State Council on the Arts and in 2018 won the Pawtucket Foundation Prize juror’s award.
