Sherman on the March

Here’s the latest from artist Christy Sherman, Skygrazer Designs. There’s a lot going on!

Critters Workshop Jan 23rd

Polymer Clay Critters – Ages 5 and up, but adults are welcome with or without a kid.
Jan 23rd at 10:30AM  ($5 Materials fee for the clay)

Sign up at the Clark Memorial Library:

7 Pinehurst Dr.
Carolina, R.I. 02812
Phone: (401) 364-6100

This will be a low key demo and play session. I’m going to demonstrate how to make lizards (shown in the Mixed Media class photo below), but everyone can make whatever they like.

The class will be about an hour. Baking the critters will take another 40 minutes or so afterwards, so you can either hang out at the library or pick up your baked critters another day.

It’s a lot of fun!

Magpie Eclectic March 12

Saturday, March 12,  10 AM – 1 PM
Wickford Art Center – Sign up here
mixedmediaEmbrace your inner magpie, and dig out all your treasures. String a necklace or bracelet out of a bit of this and a bit of that and then add some wire to hold it all together. Asymmetry and mixed media are encouraged, but you can use the same techniques to make more traditional designs.

We will cover a variety of techniques such as making your own custom clasps, wire spirals, links, and connections between chains, beads, fiber, ribbon, leather and wire. You’ll also learn how to use findings such as headpins, eyepins, jumprings and earwires.

This is a great starting point for anyone who wants to make or mend your own jewelry, or for anyone who wants to learn connection techniques for mixed media. No experience necessary.
